Ok… so I haven’t updated in about 4 months… oops! I’ve been really busy. Last update was… August 8th, 2009, so that means plenty of fun & stories!

First off, my photo is of course Great Big Sea, and is a siggy/avatar made for me by a friend for another site. I love it so much that I thought I would share it with everyone. Please ask before using if though, the person that made it for me deserves credit & it’s just awesome!

First important update: Great Big Sea Concert from August 22nd, 2009! The best show EVER!! Wow, I’ve never had such a wonderful time! Sitting in the 202 section, in Row H is the best I’ve had so far for their shows & it was incredible! I took nearly 200 pictures, and didn’t sit down the whole time! Spirit of the West opened for them & they didn’t amazing ensemble conclusion & I’ve never seen anything better!! I was on the end of the row & ended up right at the front of the isle to be able to watch, dance, sing my head & take pictures! Best news from the show?! A new album to be released sometime in 2010!! WOOHOO!! Means more concerts!

Next updates, school is sooo incredibly busy right now. I’m in the last stretch of finishing up papers & than onto exams. My schedule is the best it’s been in university: December 10th & 11th from 2pm-5pm & THAT’S IT!! Awesome right? I have one final composition for French due on Wednesday the 25th & a final project for Biodiversity due December 2nd.

Other updates include needing to write another book-related post, as well as TV/Movie-related as well. Is it important? You betcha! Will I get around to soon? I hope so!!

Updates!!

Wow, where have I been?! Lol… I’m sooo sorry that I haven’t updated in such a long time! :/ I’ve been busy with things at home & revamping my laptop. I recently put Ubuntu 9.04 – Jaunty Jackalope onto my laptop & I love it!! They made some fixes for my Sony laptop & it works perfectly!!

Anyways, onto my update & of course the picture description! :) As you may have noticed, it’s a new picture! It’s a photo of one of my favourite musical groups – Celtic Thunder!! Aren’t they sexy?! ;) They are from L-R: Paul Byrom, Keith Harkin, Damian Mc Ginty, Ryan Kelly & George Donaldson. They’re amazing lads from Ireland & sing great songs!! Check ‘em out at: http://www.celticthunder.ie

Onto my update! Nothing is really new, lol. With our kitchen, the 3 sets of sliding patio doors have gone in along the back & they look really great. :) Next week the tile floor is going in & than finally the cabinets. Hopefully it’ll be done in the next few weeks. In other news, Great Big Sea live in 2 weeks!! On August 22nd, I’m seeing them LIVE at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto. It should be sooo much fun!! We’re in the 202 section & Row H, woohoo!!! :D

I don’t really have any other updates, lol. I’m still doing lots of reading tho! I’ve read so far: Faefever – Karen Marie Moning, Dying Bites – D.D. Barant & so many more! Right now I’m reading Sandstorm – James Rollins & will read much more soon! Hopefully I’ll update some more soon, either with movies, reading or the our kitchen!

My Classes

Hiya everyone! Time for another post, this time a list of the classes that I’m enrolled in for the upcoming school year. I’m doing these posts out of order from what I wrote at the end of my last post, but this is the order that makes sense (to me at least). ;)

Before all of that, my picture. This is another picture of the lovely Captain Kathryn Janeway. As you can probably tell by her hair, this is from Season 1. She did pretty darn awesome from episode 1, when she was put in to replace Genevieve Bujold. Awesome right?! Right! :D

Onto the class list for next year. They all have the abbreviation TREN in front and that’s because I’m a Tourism & Environment major. Now the school considers me to be in year 3 because I transferred, but for this program I’m actually in year 2. It has to be done this way, and I’m taking a total 8 TREN courses to fulfill requirements. Not all in one semester of course, but still. Here’s the list:

Semester #1:
TREN 2P91 – Ethics, Equity & Environmental Thought
TREN2P12 – Tourist Behaviour
TREN2P42 – Biodiversity Conservation
TREN2P13 – Intro to Research Methods in Tourism

Semester #2
TREN2P16 – Human Dominated Ecosystems
TREN2P14 – Institutional Arrangements in Tourism
TREN2P11 – Sustainable Business Operations in Tourism
TREN2P26 – Nature-Based Tourism

So that’s the list! I’m looking forward to most of those classes & am pretty sure they’ll be very interesting. I also have 1 day off each semester. In Semester #1, it’s Tuesdays & Semester #2, it’s Wednesday. In the next few posts, I hope to have an updated book/reading list & an update of my summer & how our kitchen reno is going!

Movies

Wow, I guess I’ve neglected this for a week. There hasn’t been a whole lot to report really though. :P This will be a movie post, it’ll be pretty short because I won’t describe movies… just a small list.

As always, the photo! This is of Kate Mulgrew (duh) & her husband Tim Hagan when they got married. This was in 1999 I believe & they’re still married. Aren’t they adorable? :D For those that don’t know, Tim Hagan is a politician from Ohio & rides on the Democratic ticket. He ran in 2002, but sadly lost. If you see a few videos of Kate & Tim together, you see how cute they are. They’re one awesome couple!

Ok, movies. I guess I’ll just put out a list of movies I love. It won’t be a very long list (I’m very picky), but it’s a list/movie post nonetheless! To start, I’m a generally fantasy-type person, though I do love comedies, animated & adventure movies too. Just keep thrillers/suspense/horrors away from me & we can be the best of friends! Just kidding there, I’m picky about that too. ;)
Movies I Love
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
All of the Harry Potters
Pirates of the Caribbean (all)
Star Trek – Nemesis (a fabulous movie with Kate – see my last post with photo)
Star Trek – First Contact
The Dark Knight
V for Vendetta
The Mummy (all)
The Da Vinci Code
X-men
Van Helsing
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (new)
The Nightmare Before Christmas

Ok, so that’s a small list (seriously) of my favourite movies. I’m sure I could think of many, many more, but those are the primary ones. By that I mean that I can watch them over & over again without getting bored. There aren’t too many more for which I can say the same.

Well that’s it! Plans for my next few posts include: 1) A Summer Update, 2) My Books, updated, 3) Classes for the upcoming school year.

TV Shows

Time for another update! This time I’ll get into my favourite tv shows (includes old, new & upcoming). As always though, a photo to go with my post. It’s (can you guess?) Kathryn Janeway… or should  I say Admiral Kathryn Janeway. :) This great shot of her is from Star Trek – Nemesis in which Kate gets to boss around Captain Picard (awesome, no?). :) I’m so glad that Kate was featured in a Star Trek movie (since there wasn’t a Voyager one ever made) & I think she did a fabulous job. The role of Admiral suits her rather well! As a warning, most (if not all) my pics will be of Kate Mulgrew in some way.  I think she’s absolutely amazing & so gorgeous!

Ok, tv shows. I’m not entirely sure how I want to do this, as I have so many favourite shows & some that are coming out later this year that I want to list. So I think a few lists would be the best.

Old (off the air now):
Star Trek – Voyager <3 (you knew this was coming)
Star Trek – The Next Generation (not as much as ^)
Everybody Loves Raymond
Whose Line is it Anyway? (USA)
Friends
Garfield & Friends
The Black Donnellys (only aired 1 season a few years ago.. more later)
Still Airing:
C.S.I.
C.S.I. Miami
C.S.I. New York
Fringe
Wipeout
Without a Trace
Numb3rs
Mythbusters
Mercy (starting in the fall)

Ok, so that’s a small list (trust me, I make it bigger). I have many cartoons that I used to watch, and other shows that I like, but don’t LOVE. Now Voyager was a given considering the amount of Janeway/Kate pictures I post. I used to love TNG, but I watched the first full season of Voyager & fell in love with Kate & Star Trek in a whole new way. She kicks butt as captain & I wouldn’t want to see anyone else in that chair. The Black Donnellys is a Drama that aired on NBC in 2007. Only the first season made, and to be honest I don’t think they gave it much chance. It’s about 4 Irish brothers (one is Kirk Acevedo from Fringe) & Kate Mulgrew portrays Helen Donnelly (their mother). Here’s the tv.com link: http://www.tv.com/The+Black+Donnellys/show/49534/summary.html?tag=container;smallhead

Anyways, those are my shows. What are some of your favourites (old or new)? Up soon will be an update of my summer thus far. Kitchen reno pics are coming, but the kitchen’s not done. ;)

Books

Another post for everyone. This one will just quickly detail a list of books that I just bought & want to read. But first, a quick little intro with my photo. :)

Picture #3 is again, a photo of the lovely Captain Kathryn Janeway. This has to be one of my favourite stills of her! :D Her cute smile & a cup of coffee (never tea). If everyone remembers the macrovirus episode, where Janeway & The Doctor are left to fight it off. This is towards the end of the episode when she is talking with Chakotay. Another great episode & another adorable pic of her. :)

Ok, onto books, tv & movies. Sound good? I thought so. I always have a huge list of books to read (both ebooks & novels). I got two $50 giftcards to Chapters for my birthday, and took advantage of a buy 3, get the 4th free sale. I have so many book to read, provided I can pry myself away from my computer long enough to indulge myself. If you’ve done your math, you know that I have 8 (yes, 8) new books to read + whatever else I have from before. Here’s a list reading I need to do:
Books to Read This Summer:
1. Night Life – Caitlin Kittredge (almost done)
2. Pure Blood – Caitlin Kittredge
3. Second Skin – Caitlin Kittredge
4. Street Magic – Caitlin Kittredge
5. Blasphemy – Douglas Preston
6. Marked – P.C. & Kristin Cast
7. Storm Glass – Maria V. Snyder
8. Sandstorm – James Rollins
9. The Last Oracle – James Rollins
10. The Magician’s Apprentice – Trudi Canavan

There are a few more, but they don’t get released until later this month, or beginning of August. Those include: Faefever – Karen Marie Moning, Bad Moon Rising – Sherrilyn Kenyon, The Doomsday Key – James Rollins & The Lost Symbol – Dan Brown.

That’s pretty much it for my reading list. Stay tuned for a list of TV Shows I love, Movies I love & an update on my summer (including our Kitchen Reno). :D

The Summer So Far

Photo #2 for post #2 is of my favourite Star Trek captain! :D It’s Kathryn Janeway, portrayed by the lovely Kate Mulgrew (see the photo in my last post). This is one of my favourite shots of the lovely captain. It’s in the later seasons (around 4 or 5) when she had her hair cut shorter. Captain Janeway went through many hair transitions. Here’s a Youtube video where Kate herself explains it in the first minute:

Anyway, onto my summer thus far. It’s been pretty uneventful & unexciting. I don’t do much besides go on the computer, look for jobs, talk to my best friend (and hang out with her) & be lazy, lol. Coming about a job this summer has been terrible & I’ve yet to have any luck at all. I haven’t given up, but I’m close.

My best friend Gillian & I usually hang out twice a week, sometimes more. On Tuesdays we go out to Chapters or the mall & go shopping. We get coffee, wander, chat & look at books. On Fridays, she comes over to my house & we watch tv or play video games, eat potato chips, drink coffee & crack bad jokes.

I’ve also been swimming a few times this summer which is nice. :) We were supposed to have our pool redone earlier this summer, but the guys didn’t show up & we have to wait until the end of August. It’s actually a really long story, but I’m not about to tell it… well maybe I will in later post.

Another post for later, is about our home renovations… or as my dad calls it: “Home Reno – Phase 1″. Phase 1 involves the pool as mentioned above, and our kitchen. The kitchen has been started (part of a wall is gone & the pantry is now in the living room). I’ve seen the plan & the products they’re using & it looks great, I’m excited! :D I’ll post pictures when it’s done, with some before & afters.

I’m waiting ever so patiently (or not) for the 2009-2010 Brock schedule to come out so that I can pick classes for registration on July 15th. The date is looming ever closer, so I’m hoping the schedule will be available in the coming week. I’m hoping to do much better in my courses this year than last… my goal is to come out of each class with AT LEAST at 65%. I know it’s possible, just need to try a little harder. ;)

Anyway, I’ll post more later with kitchen & pool renos, my classes  (when the schedule is out), movies I see & books I read. :)

A Beginning Post

Hi everyone!

I hope you enjoyed learning somewhat about me in my last post. Those were just some of my basic loves. I’m also going to start putting images with posts… some big, some small. They’ll be my different addictions & I’ll describe each. :) My first photo, is my favourite pic of the lovely Kate Mulgrew. It’s an absolutely gorgeous headshot of her & I think it’s one of the best.

So what’s going on with me? Well I’m on my summer vacation from university right now. I don’t have a job & I’m completely bored (it’s rather awful). Oh.. maybe that’s important lol. I’m in my 2nd year at Brock University studying Tourism, I may choose a minor in something… but I haven’t decided yet.

It’s getting pretty hot here too (which blows). I’m spending a lot my time indoors on my laptop & I think it’s driving my mother insane. We do have a pool, so I’ve been trying to do laps a few times a week. We’re also in the middle of doing house renovations, we’ve got a whole kitchen project underway right now & that won’t be done until the end of July. I’ll probably post pics when it’s done, it should look pretty great!!

I’m also watching a lot of downloaded TV shows & reading a lot of books. Chapters had a buy 3, get the 4th free so I took full advantage with my $50 giftcard. I got:
Night Life by Caitlin Kittredge,
Blasphemy by Douglas Preston
Marked by P.C. & Kristin Cast
Sandstorm by James Rollins.
I also have a lot more novels that I’ve bought in the last year that I need to catch up on… it’ll probably take me a while lol. I’ve mostly been watching Star Trek - Voyager, but I also downloaded other shows that featured Kate Mulgrew. The four I got were Murphy Brown (one episode from Season 4), Cheers (3 episodes from Season 4), The Black Donnellys, and Law & Order: SVU (one episode from Season 7).

Well that’s really all that I can think of for now. Oh!! I get to see my favourite group (Great Big Sea) on August 22nd at the Molson Amphitheatre. I’m soooo excited for this show, I’m in the 202 section (as opposed to the 303 section last year). I’m right in the centre & only a few rows back… can’t wait!! I’ll be sure to post pictures & tell my stories about it after it happens.

Good nightWordpress, I hope to meet more people!!
